In 2023, he conquered Belgium with a wild concert at La Madeleine and a memorable performance at Rock Werchter. Now it's time for J.I.D to return and rock the flat country with his new album “God Does Like Ugly” and his brand new God Does Like World Tours! With Mick Jenkins as the opening act!
Originally from Atlanta, the epicenter of hip hop at the turn of the 2000s, Destin Route, aka J.I.D, grew up surrounded by his parents' soul and funk records. After a period of interest in sports, he finally turned to rap and forged a unique style, combining technical agility and powerful flows, all sprinkled with New York influences (Jay-Z, Nas, Mobb Deep). His first EP, DiCaprio (2015), quickly attracted attention and brought him closer to the duo EARTHGANG. His meeting with J. Cole proved decisive: he signed with Dreamville/Interscope Records and released two critically acclaimed albums in quick succession, The Never Story (2017) and DiCaprio 2 (2018). In 2019, he took part in the collective adventure Revenge of the Dreamers III, which went platinum and was nominated for a GRAMMY Award, confirming his status as an essential newcomer on the US rap scene. But it was in 2022 that J.I.D reached a new milestone with The Forever Story, an ambitious album acclaimed by fans of the genre. The single “Surround Sound,” featuring 21 Savage and Baby Tate, became a global phenomenon, certified triple platinum and going viral on TikTok. Since then, J.I.D has established himself as one of the most anticipated live performers of his generation. From the legendary stages of Coachella to those of Lollapalooza, he captivates audiences with his presence, energy, and charisma.
In Brussels, it's now the AB stage that's getting ready to rock to his sharp rhymes and fast, incisive flow. He'll be there to present his fourth album, “God Does Like Ugly,” which has been available since early August! J.I.D announced it with a powerful freestyle on YouTube and an EP featuring three exceptional collaborations with Lil Yachty, 6lack, and Eminem. An unmissable event for all hip hop fans!
